Women Sailors Heading to Austin for Sailing Championship

Austin Yacht Club to Host 2018 USSCA Women’s North American Championship Sept. 28-30

Austin, TX:  Women from around the country will be in Austin competing in the 2018 USSCA Women’s North American Championship this September.  Austin Yacht Club is hosting the event on Lake Travis.

The Club is putting on series of events around the racing, including a welcome party Friday evening the 28th and an awards ceremony on Sunday evening the 30th after racing.

Multiple back to back races will be sailed on Saturday and Sunday.  Awards go to the top five finishers and the top placing youth sailor.  The top US finisher will qualify for the 2019 ISCA World Championship.

Event organizer and Vice Commodore of Austin Yacht Club, Annie Lancaster, had this to say about the event:  “We are so excited about this event. Austin Yacht Club had the pleasure of hosting the prestigious Women’s Championship in 1994 and 2000. Many volunteers from our AYC family will be helping with food, boats, housing and race committee. We are honored to welcome competitors from around the country.  As of today we have competitors coming from Washington, Rhode Island, Florida, Missouri, Delaware, Arizona and of course Texas.”
